Subject: World walk blog China 10

On Sunday Chrissy arrived. We will walk together for a couple of weeks. Today we took it easy with a visit to the Terracotta Warriors. This astonishing discovery was made when a couple of farmers were out in a field digging for a water well. Since that day in March 1974 Mr. Yangs life has changed forever, for he often greets world leaders in the house which the government provided for him, as he had to move out! We paid him a visit at his house. Interestingly, we were told that archaeologists are still digging out more warriors. Each figure is a replica of a soldier who fought for the emperor. We were told it took 80 years to build. It was hidden underground over 2,200 years ago for future generations to discover the emperors memorial. Once uncovered and exposed to light the painted figures lost their colour within minutes. Obviously, many are damaged and repairs are ongoing.
