Mr Mangan has departed McKinlay en route for Cloncurry and Mount Isa and took the opportunity to audition for the role of Crocodile Dundee in McKinlay’s Walkabout Creek Hotel where many scenes of the original movie were filmed including the iconic “knife” scene that Mr Mangan recreated with the help of locals.
“I have been dreaming of shooting this Crocodile Dundee movie clip in the very bar that it was shot in,” Mr Mangan said on his Facebook page.
“Thanks to Rhys, my co-actor friend and also to Johanna, a German camerawoman for their help.”
Mr Mangan,60, is an ultra distance runner who is currently walking around the world to raise awareness of cancer and the importance of early cancer screening – and given his acting performance in McKinlay, it may be the only “screening” he gets!

On his way from Sydney to Darwin, Mr Mangan stayed at Winton during the Way Out West and now plans to stay in Cloncurry Tuesday and Wednesday nights before heading to Mount Isa.
Mr Mangan said he was fascinated by the history of Mount Isa Irish Club and how it came to be that there is such an Irish connection in a remote town.
